About us
The FMS Student Services Office is located in the 6th grade wing of the school, but serves the entire school. We include two full-time school counselors and one full time school nurse, with one secretary (Julie Mercer). Julie handles most of the data input and record keeping for our 700+ students and is usually the voice you’ll hear if you call our office.
Mrs. Dawn Girsch is the counselor for 6th and 7th grade this year, and Pat Wright is the counselor for 5th and 8th. We “loop” with our students as they progress through the grade levels.
This year both counselors will be teaching UA/ROCK classes focusing on either transition to middle school, communication skills, or self-awareness as it relates to career and school choices. The school counselors also run small student lunch groups and see individual students, as well as consult with parents and teachers.
Jean Barbour is our school nurse and has more specific health related information on the “Health Services” site, which also has a link off the FMS homepage.
